Our camera is not able to download at the moment, but hopefully I will be able to post pictures soon. Anyway, here is whats been happening… We got into the London Heathrow airport at about 7:00 P.M London time so about 10:00 A.M Anchorage time, and met up with my sister. We took the underground (also called the “tube”) to our hotel and dumped our bags, then got something to eat. We were staying at this part of the city called Camden town, and it is pretty cool. The first English meal I had was pretty interesting, composed of grits, tea, some black toast thingy and pastry. So Camden town has this market, like a punk market! I’m serious! All the shops in this main street have stalls outdoors, and they have like studded boots, and tattoos and weird Gothic clothes, pretty weird huh? So we went to see Big Ben and Westminster Abbey and the House of commons, for Parliament. The abbey has these huge stained glass windows depicting scenes from the bible, and huge carvings. All of the carvings are so intricate, it is amazing. There were some police cars outside the house of commons, and guess what color they were! Bright neon green yellow and orange, checkered, not black. The ambulances are like this too, well it sure makes a statement! We went to the Tate museum of modern art and that was pretty cool, with styles like Picasso etc. The weather has been pretty sunny actually and nice. We went to see St. Paul’s Cathedral (you cant take pictures inside) and it was amazing, all the carvings and such! We took the train to a dance competition yesterday and then the train back. So sunday we went to London bridge and London Tower, the most famous of these is the bloody tower, where people were killed. We saw the execution site where Henry the eighth had a bunch of his wives killed, including Catherine Howard and Anne Boleyn. We saw all the siege weapons and ancient armor, and the bed chambers of St. Edward. All the towers had these tiny winding staircases, and medievally dressed guards. We saw the crown jewels and you guys should have seen the steel doors barricading the hall! The jewels were amazing, and the coronation robes! There was this wine bowl, that servants would dip into, and it was huge, as tall as my waist and at least 3 ½ ft across, made of gold! There were all sorts of scepters and crowns, and orbs of state, all covered with diamonds and pearls, and jewel encrusted swords. In all the towers there was graffiti left by prisoners, mostly in old english and greek and roman. So tuesday we catch a flight to Dublin… Update ya later.
